Devanagari rendered by HREEM from the edition's roman (IAST) text; the IAST is the edition's own.

Through his own strength Indra with bolt of thunder cut piece-meal Vrtra, drier up of waters. He let the floods go free, like cows imprisoned, for glory, with a heart inclined to bounty.

Translated by Ralph T. H. Griffith (1896)This is the translator's rendering of the same verse where it occurs at RV 1.61.10; the wording of this text may differ in places.
