varaṇo vārayātā ayaṃ devo vanaspatiḥ | yakṣmo yo asminn āviṣṭas tam u devā avīvaran ||1||

The varaṇá, this divine forest-tree, shall ward off (vāray-); the yákṣma that has entered into this man—that have the gods warded off.

Translated by William Dwight Whitney (1905)

indrasya vacasā vayaṃ mitrasya varuṇasya ca | devānāṃ sarveṣāṃ vācā yakṣmaṃ te vārayāmahe ||2||

With the word (vácas) of Indra, of Mitra, and of Varuṇa, with the voice (vā́c) of all the gods, do we ward off thy yákṣma.

Translated by William Dwight Whitney (1905)

yathā vṛtra imā āpas tastambha viśvadhā yatīḥ | evā te agninā yakṣmaṃ vaiśvānareṇa vāraye ||3||

As Vritra stopped (stambh) these waters [when] going in all directions, so, by means of Agni Vāiçvānara, do I ward off thy yákṣma.

Translated by William Dwight Whitney (1905)
