Devanagari rendered by HREEM from the edition's roman (IAST) text; the IAST is the edition's own.

He it is who sends the (in-coming) Prana (life-breath) upward and throws the (out-going) breath downward. Him all the senses worship, the adorable Atman, seated in the centre (the heart).

Translated by Swami Paramananda

He (Brahman) it is who sends up the breath (prâna), and who throws back the breath (apâna). All the Devas (senses) worship him, the adorable (or the dwarf), who sits in the centre.

Translated by F. Max Müller
