कथा दाशेमाग्नये कास्मै देवजुष्टोच्यते भामिने गीः । यो मर्त्येष्व् अमृत ऋतावा होता यजिष्ठ इत् कृणोति देवान् ॥
kathā dāśemāgnaye kāsmai devajuṣṭocyate bhāmine gīḥ | yo martyeṣv amṛta ṛtāvā hotā yajiṣṭha it kṛṇoti devān ||
How shall we pay oblation unto Agni? What hymn, Godloved, is said to him refulgent? Who, deathless, true to Law, mid men a herald, bringeth the Gods as best of sacrificers?

यो अध्वरेषु शन्तम ऋतावा होता तम् ऊ नमोभिर् आ कृणुध्वम् । अग्निर् यद् वेर् मर्ताय देवान् स चा बोधाति मनसा यजाति ॥
yo adhvareṣu śantama ṛtāvā hotā tam ū namobhir ā kṛṇudhvam | agnir yad ver martāya devān sa cā bodhāti manasā yajāti ||
Bring him with reverence hither, most propitious in sacrifices, true to Law, the herald; For Agni, when he seeks the Gods for mortals, knows them full well and worships them in spirit.

स हि क्रतुः स मर्यः स साधुर् मित्रो न भूद् अद्भुतस्य रथीः । तम् मेधेषु प्रथमं देवयन्तीर् विश उप ब्रुवते दस्मम् आरीः ॥
sa hi kratuḥ sa maryaḥ sa sādhur mitro na bhūd adbhutasya rathīḥ | tam medheṣu prathamaṃ devayantīr viśa upa bruvate dasmam ārīḥ ||
For he is mental power, a man, and perfect; he is the bringer, friend-like, of the wondrous. The pious Aryan tribes at sacrifices address them first to him who doeth marvels.

स नो नृणां नृतमो रिशादा अग्निर् गिरो ऽवसा वेतु धीतिम् । तना च ये मघवानः शविष्ठा वाजप्रसूता इषयन्त मन्म ॥
sa no nṛṇāṃ nṛtamo riśādā agnir giro 'vasā vetu dhītim | tanā ca ye maghavānaḥ śaviṣṭhā vājaprasūtā iṣayanta manma ||
May Agni, foe-destroyer, manliest Hero, accept with love our hymns and our devotion. So may the liberal lords whose strength is strongest, urged by their riches, stir our thoughts with vigour.

एवाग्निर् गोतमेभिर् ऋतावा विप्रेभिर् अस्तोष्ट जातवेदाः । स एषु द्युम्नम् पीपयत् स वाजं स पुष्टिं याति जोषम् आ चिकित्वान् ॥
evāgnir gotamebhir ṛtāvā viprebhir astoṣṭa jātavedāḥ | sa eṣu dyumnam pīpayat sa vājaṃ sa puṣṭiṃ yāti joṣam ā cikitvān ||
Thus Agni Jatavedas, true to Order, hath by the priestly Gotamas been lauded. May he augment in them splendour and vigour: observant, as he lists, he gathers increase.
