अयं देवानाम् असुरो वि राजति वशा हि सत्या वरुणस्य राज्ञः । ततस् परि ब्रह्मणा शाशदान उग्रस्य मन्योर् उद् इमं नयामि ॥१॥
ayaṃ devānām asuro vi rājati vaśā hi satyā varuṇasya rājñaḥ | tatas pari brahmaṇā śāśadāna ugrasya manyor ud imaṃ nayāmi ||1||
This Asura bears rule over the gods; for the wills (váça) of king Varuṇa [come] true; from him, prevailing by my worship (bráhman), from the fury of the formidable one (ugrá) do I lead up this man.

नमस् ते रजन् वरुणास्तु मन्यवे विश्वं ह्य् उग्र निचिकेषि द्रुग्धम् । सहस्रम् अन्यान् प्र सुवामि साकं शतं जीवाति शरदस् तवायम् ॥२॥
namas te rajan varuṇāstu manyave viśvaṃ hy ugra nicikeṣi drugdham | sahasram anyān pra suvāmi sākaṃ śataṃ jīvāti śaradas tavāyam ||2||
Homage be to thy fury, O king Varuṇa; for, O formidable one, thou dost note (ni-ci) every malice (drugdhá). A thousand others I impel (pra-sū) together; a hundred autumns of thee shall this man live.

यद् उवक्थानृतम् जिह्वया वृजिनं बहु । राज्ञस् त्वा सत्यधर्मणो मुञ्चामि वरुणाद् अहम् ॥३॥
yad uvakthānṛtam jihvayā vṛjinaṃ bahu | rājñas tvā satyadharmaṇo muñcāmi varuṇād aham ||3||
In that thou hast spoken with the tongue untruth, much wrong—from the king of true ordinances (-dhárman), from Varuṇa, I release thee.

मुञ्चामि त्वा वैश्वानराद् अर्णवान् महतस् परि । सजातान् उग्रेहा वद ब्रह्म चाप चिकीहि नः ॥४॥
muñcāmi tvā vaiśvānarād arṇavān mahatas pari | sajātān ugrehā vada brahma cāpa cikīhi naḥ ||4||
I release thee out of the universal, the great flood (arṇavá); speak, O formidable one, unto [thy] fellows here, and reverence our incantation (bráhman).
