यस् तिग्मशृङ्गो वृषभो न भीमः एकः कृष्टीश् च्यवयति प्र विश्वाः । यः शश्वतो अदाशुषो गयस्य प्रयन्तासि सुष्वितराय वेदः ॥१॥

yas tigmaśṛṅgo vṛṣabho na bhīmaḥ ekaḥ kṛṣṭīś cyavayati pra viśvāḥ | yaḥ śaśvato adāśuṣo gayasya prayantāsi suṣvitarāya vedaḥ ||1||

He like a bull with sharpened horns, terrific, singly excites and agitates all the people: Thou givest him who largely pours libations his goods who pours not, for his own possession.

त्वं ह त्यद् इन्द्र कुत्सम् आवः शुश्रूषमाणस् तन्वा समर्ये । दासं यच् शुष्णम् कुयवं न्य् अस्मा अरन्धय आर्जुनेयाय शिक्षन् ॥२॥

tvaṃ ha tyad indra kutsam āvaḥ śuśrūṣamāṇas tanvā samarye | dāsaṃ yac śuṣṇam kuyavaṃ ny asmā arandhaya ārjuneyāya śikṣan ||2||

Thou, verily, Indra, gavest help to Kutsa, willingly giving car to him in battle, When, aiding Arjuneya, thou subduedst to him both Kuyava and the Dasa Susna.

त्वं धृष्णो धृषता वीतहव्यं प्रावो विश्वाभिर् ऊतिभिः सुदासम् । प्र पौरुकुत्सिं त्रसदस्युम् आवः क्षेत्रसाता वृत्रहत्येषु पूरुम् ॥३॥

tvaṃ dhṛṣṇo dhṛṣatā vītahavyaṃ prāvo viśvābhir ūtibhiḥ sudāsam | pra paurukutsiṃ trasadasyum āvaḥ kṣetrasātā vṛtrahatyeṣu pūrum ||3||

O Bold One, thou with all thine aids hast boldly holpen Sudas whose offerings were accepted, Puru in winning land and slaying foemen, and Trasadasyu son of Purukutsa.

त्वं नृभिर् नृमणो देववीतौ भूरीणि वृत्रा हर्यश्व हंसि । त्वं नि दस्युं चुमुरिं धुनिं चास्वापयो दभीतये सुहन्तु ॥४॥

tvaṃ nṛbhir nṛmaṇo devavītau bhūrīṇi vṛtrā haryaśva haṃsi | tvaṃ ni dasyuṃ cumuriṃ dhuniṃ cāsvāpayo dabhītaye suhantu ||4||

At the Gods' banquet, hero-souled! with Heroes, Lord of Bay Steeds, thou slewest many foemen. Thou sentest in swift death to sleep the Dasyu, both Cumuri and Dhuni, for Dabhiti.

तव च्यौत्नानि वज्रहस्त तानि नव यत् पुरो नवतिं च सद्यः । निवेशने शततमाविवेषीर् अहं च वृत्रं नमुचिम् उताहन् ॥५॥

tava cyautnāni vajrahasta tāni nava yat puro navatiṃ ca sadyaḥ | niveśane śatatamāviveṣīr ahaṃ ca vṛtraṃ namucim utāhan ||5||

These were thy mighty powers that, Thunder-wielder, thou swiftly crushedst nine-and-ninety castles: Thou capturedst the hundredth in thine onslaught; thou slewest Namuci, thou slewest Vrtra.

सना ता त इन्द्र भोजनानि रातहव्याय दाशुषे सुदासे । वृष्णे ते हरी वृषणा युनज्मि व्यन्तु ब्रह्माणि पुरुशाक वाजम् ॥६॥

sanā tā ta indra bhojanāni rātahavyāya dāśuṣe sudāse | vṛṣṇe te harī vṛṣaṇā yunajmi vyantu brahmāṇi puruśāka vājam ||6||

Old are the blessings, Indra, which thou gavest Sudas the worshipper who brought oblations. For thee, the Strong, I yoke thy strong Bay Horses: may our prayers reach thee and win strength, Most Mighty!

मा ते अस्यां सहसावन् परिष्टाव् अघाय भूम हरिवः परादौ । त्रायस्व नो ऽवृकेभिर् वरूथैस् तव प्रियासः सूरिषु स्याम ॥७॥

mā te asyāṃ sahasāvan pariṣṭāv aghāya bhūma harivaḥ parādau | trāyasva no 'vṛkebhir varūthais tava priyāsaḥ sūriṣu syāma ||7||

Give us not up, Lord of Bay Horses, Victor, in this thine own assembly, to the wicked. Deliver us with true and faithful succours: dear may we be to thee among the princes.

प्रियास इत् ते मघवन्न् अभिष्टौ नरो मदेम शरणे सखायः । नि तुर्वशं नि याद्वं शिशीह्य् अतिथिग्वाय शंस्यं करिष्यन् ॥८॥

priyāsa it te maghavann abhiṣṭau naro madema śaraṇe sakhāyaḥ | ni turvaśaṃ ni yādvaṃ śiśīhy atithigvāya śaṃsyaṃ kariṣyan ||8||

May we men, Maghavan, the friends thou lovest, near thee be joyful under thy protection. Fain to fulfil the wish of Atithigva humble. the pride of Turvasa and Yadva.

सद्यश् चिन् नु ते मघवन्न् अभिष्टौ नरः शंसन्त्य् उक्थशास उक्था । ये ते हवेभिर् वि पणींर् अदाशन्न् अस्मान् वृणीष्व युज्याय तस्मै ॥९॥

sadyaś cin nu te maghavann abhiṣṭau naraḥ śaṃsanty ukthaśāsa ukthā | ye te havebhir vi paṇīṃr adāśann asmān vṛṇīṣva yujyāya tasmai ||9||

Swiftly, in truth, O Maghavan, about thee men skilled in hymning sing their songs and praises. ' Elect us also into their assembly who by their calls on thee despoiled the niggards.

एते स्तोमा नरां नृतम तुभ्यम् अस्मद्र्यञ्चो ददतो मघानि । तेषाम् इन्द्र वृत्रहत्ये शिवो भूः सखा च शूरो ऽविता च नृणाम् ॥१०॥

ete stomā narāṃ nṛtama tubhyam asmadryañco dadato maghāni | teṣām indra vṛtrahatye śivo bhūḥ sakhā ca śūro 'vitā ca nṛṇām ||10||

Thine are these lauds, O manliest of heroes, lauds which revert to us and give us riches. Favour these, Indra, when they fight with foemen, as Friend and Hero and the heroes' Helper.

नू इन्द्र शूर स्तवमान ऊती ब्रह्मजूतस् तन्वा वावृधस्व । उप नो वाजान् मिमीह्य् उप स्तीन् युयं पात स्वस्तिभिः सदा नः ॥११॥

nū indra śūra stavamāna ūtī brahmajūtas tanvā vāvṛdhasva | upa no vājān mimīhy upa stīn yuyaṃ pāta svastibhiḥ sadā naḥ ||11||

Now, lauded for thine aid, Heroic Indra, sped by our prayer, wax mighty in thy body. Apportion to us strength and habitations. Ye Gods, protect us evermore with blessings.
