समं ज्योतिः सूर्येणाह्ना रात्री समावती । कृणोमि सत्यम् ऊतये ऽरसाः सन्तु कृत्वरीः ॥१॥
samaṃ jyotiḥ sūryeṇāhnā rātrī samāvatī | kṛṇomi satyam ūtaye 'rasāḥ santu kṛtvarīḥ ||1||
The same light with the sun—night possesses the same with the day; I make what is effective (satyá) for aid; sapless be the makers (f.) [of witchcraft].

यो देवाः कृत्यां कृत्वा हराद् अविदुषो गृहम् । वत्सो धारुर् इव मातरं तं प्रत्यग् उप पद्यताम् ॥२॥
yo devāḥ kṛtyāṃ kṛtvā harād aviduṣo gṛham | vatso dhārur iva mātaraṃ taṃ pratyag upa padyatām ||2||
Whoso, O gods, having made witchcraft, shall take it to the house of one unknowing—let it, like a sucking (dhārú) calf to its mother, go back unto him.

अमा कृत्वा पाप्मानं यस् तेनान्यं जिघांसति । अश्मानस् तस्यां दग्धायां बहुलाः फट् करिक्रति ॥३॥
amā kṛtvā pāpmānaṃ yas tenānyaṃ jighāṃsati | aśmānas tasyāṃ dagdhāyāṃ bahulāḥ phaṭ karikrati ||3||
Whoso, having made evil at home, desires to slay another with it—numerous stones make a loud crash when it (f.) is burned.

सहस्रधामन् विशिखान् विग्रीवां छायया त्वम् । प्रति स्म चक्रुषे कृत्यां प्रियां प्रियावते हर ॥४॥
sahasradhāman viśikhān vigrīvāṃ chāyayā tvam | prati sma cakruṣe kṛtyāṃ priyāṃ priyāvate hara ||4||
O thou of a thousand abodes (? -dhā́man), do thou make them lie (?) crestless, neckless; take back the witchcraft to him that made it, like a sweet-heart (priyā́) to a lover (priyā́vant).

अनयाहम् ओषध्या सर्वाः कृत्या अदूदुषम् । यां क्षेत्रे चक्रुर् यां गोषु यां वा ते पुरुषेषु ॥५॥
anayāham oṣadhyā sarvāḥ kṛtyā adūduṣam | yāṃ kṣetre cakrur yāṃ goṣu yāṃ vā te puruṣeṣu ||5||
I, with this herb, have spoiled all witchcrafts—what one they have made in the field, what in the kine, or what in thy men (púruṣa).

यश् चकार न शशाक कर्तुं शश्रे पादम् अङ्गुरिम् । चकार भद्रम् अस्मभ्यम् आत्मने तपनम् तु सः ॥६॥
yaś cakāra na śaśāka kartuṃ śaśre pādam aṅgurim | cakāra bhadram asmabhyam ātmane tapanam tu saḥ ||6||
He who hath made hath not been able to make; he hath crushed (çṛ) a foot, a finger; he hath made what is excellent for us, but for himself a burning (tápana).

अपामार्गो ऽप मार्ष्टु क्षेत्रियं शपथश् च यः । अपाह यातुधानीर् अप सर्वा अराय्यः ॥७॥
apāmārgo 'pa mārṣṭu kṣetriyaṃ śapathaś ca yaḥ | apāha yātudhānīr apa sarvā arāyyaḥ ||7||
Let the off-wiper wipe off the kṣetriyá and whatever curse [there is]; [wipe] off, forsooth, the sorceresses, off all the hags.

अपमृज्य यातुधानान् अप सर्वा अराय्यः । अपामार्ग त्वया वयं सर्वं तद् अप मृज्महे ॥८॥
apamṛjya yātudhānān apa sarvā arāyyaḥ | apāmārga tvayā vayaṃ sarvaṃ tad apa mṛjmahe ||8||
Having wiped off the sorcerers, off all the hags, O off-wiper, with thee do we wipe off all that.
