इन्द्रियाणां विषयेषु चरतां वर्तमानानां वर्तनम् अनु यन् मनो विधीयते पुरुषेणानुवर्त्यते, तन् मनो ऽस्य विविक्तात्मप्रवणां प्रज्ञां हरति विषयप्रवणां करोतीत्यर्थः; यथाम्भसि नीयमानां नावं प्रतिकूलो वायुः प्रसह्य हरति
indriyāṇāṃ viṣayeṣu caratāṃ vartamānānāṃ vartanam anu yan mano vidhīyate puruṣeṇānuvartyate, tan mano 'sya viviktātmapravaṇāṃ prajñāṃ harati viṣayapravaṇāṃ karotītyarthaḥ; yathāmbhasi nīyamānāṃ nāvaṃ pratikūlo vāyuḥ prasahya harati
