बृहत्-साम तथा साम्नां प्रधानम् अस्मि । गायत्री च्छन्दसाम् अहं गायत्र्य्-आदि-च्छन्दो-विशिष्टानाम् ऋचां गायत्री ऋग् अहम् अस्मीत्य् अर्थः । मासानां मार्गशीर्षो ऽहम्, ऋतूनां कुसुमाकरो वसन्तः

bṛhat-sāma tathā sāmnāṃ pradhānam asmi | gāyatrī cchandasām ahaṃ gāyatry-ādi-cchando-viśiṣṭānām ṛcāṃ gāyatrī ṛg aham asmīty arthaḥ | māsānāṃ mārgaśīrṣo 'ham, ṛtūnāṃ kusumākaro vasantaḥ
