वसन्तो हिङ्कारः । ग्रीष्मः प्रस्तावः । वर्षा उद्गीथः । शरत् प्रतिहारः । हेमन्तो निधनम् । एतद् वैराजम् ऋतुषु प्रोतम्

vasanto hiṅkāraḥ | grīṣmaḥ prastāvaḥ | varṣā udgīthaḥ | śarat pratihāraḥ | hemanto nidhanam | etad vairājam ṛtuṣu protam

The hinkâra is spring, the prastâva summer, the udgîtha the rainy season, the pratihâra autumn, the nidhana winter. That is the Vairâga Sâman, as interwoven in the seasons.
