तच् छ्रुत्वा लघुपतनको ऽपि निरुत्तरश् चिन्तयामास-अहो, बुद्धि-प्रागल्भ्यम् अस्य नीति-विषये । अथवा स एवास्योपरि मैत्री-पक्षपातः । स आह-भो हिरण्यक ! सतां साप्तपदं मैत्रम् इत्य् आहुर् विबुधा जनाः । तस्मात् त्वं मित्रतां प्राप्तो वचनं मम तच् छृणु
tac chrutvā laghupatanako 'pi niruttaraś cintayāmāsa-aho, buddhi-prāgalbhyam asya nīti-viṣaye | athavā sa evāsyopari maitrī-pakṣapātaḥ | sa āha-bho hiraṇyaka ! satāṃ sāptapadaṃ maitram ity āhur vibudhā janāḥ | tasmāt tvaṃ mitratāṃ prāpto vacanaṃ mama tac chṛṇu
